Artifice
This is a feeble translation of 'Kaushal' a story by Munshi Premchand. The story is about a woman who yearns for a necklace. The husband,
however, refuses to buy her one citing one reason or the other but never the real reason: he has no money.
The husband, of course, can work a little harder and if he does so he can easily buy a necklace for his wife. But work and the husband don't go together. Does the woman get her necklace?

Test Ride!
My motorcycle had served me faithfully for ten years. I thought of retiring it and buying a new workhorse.
During the weekend, I visited the nearest motorcycle showroom to inquire about a new bike. They had a kind of exchange offer: they were willing to buy my old bike, and I would have to pay that much amount less when buying the new bike from them.
An employee came along and inspected my bike; after a thorough scrutiny he made his offer. The price he offered was far less than what I had expected. But, I did not have the inclination to find a customer on my own and, so, agreed to the price.

Who is the Winner?
The Das' and the Nairs are next-door neighbours, and are very good friends. Their friendship is cemented by their common love for the game
of chess.
Mr and Mrs Das, and Mr and Mrs Nair get together every Sunday and play a chess tournament. The winner is treated to a lavish dinner by the remaining three.
Among the four of them they play three games; the loser in any game does not get to play further games. Thus, the winner of the first game plays the second game with any of the other two players. The winner of the second game plays the third game with the last player; whoever wins this game is the champion.
