This is a poor translation of a story by Sukumar Ray. The objective is merely to exhort readers to read the original or better translations. The story is about Dashu whose friends call him "Pagla Dashu" for his eccentricity. Dashu's classmate Ramapada has distributed sweets among all the boys because it is his birthday. But he has not offered any sweets to Dashu; the reason being Dashu and he are not on the best of terms. However on the insistence of the boys he offers sweets to Dashu but does so in an insulting manner. Does Dashu take the sweets or refuse them? Please read the story.

After a fortnight's holiday with my family in my home town it was time to leave for the neighbouring state where I worked. The train reservation had been obtained, and so the 12-hour journey wasn't likely to be tedious. Besides, the train was to depart at 7pm; so, I could very well go to sleep after my meals; and when I woke I would have reached my destination! It was going to be an unexciting train journey!
It was the annual sports meet in school. Rohan and Amit were the top contenders in the 2-kilometre race. We were all excited as to who will win the race. Will it be Rohan or will it be Amit? There were quite a few events before the 2-kilometre race. At last the athletes lined up for the cream event, and the whistle blew to mark the start of the race. Rohan beat Amit by two minutes! Please help me work out the speeds of Amit and Rohan.
